Are you 2020 proof?

Vacuum cleaning, often the least favorite job, but a very important one! And as you may already know, industrial vacuum cleaners come in all shapes and sizes. You must comply with laws and regulations. Now that you feel it coming, the European Union has made the laws and regulations for 2020 even stricter. Now I can hear you thinking, help! Now I have to figure out what has been changed ?! Don’t worry we have already read the European Union’s publication sheets for you. So if you want to be aware of what exactly will change for you and what you should pay attention to? Read this blog and you’ll be completely up to date!

The filter

A good vacuum cleaner is essential when you are milling. And the higher the level of this filter in this vacuum cleaner, the better. The European Union also agreed, since they have sharpened the rules for this from 1 January 2020. As of this year quartz, or all fine dust, must be vacuumed with a vacuum cleaner that is at least equipped with an M-Class filter. An HEPA-Class filter is not yet required by law, but it is expected that within a few years the legal rules will be sharpened even further. Now I can hear you thinking what is the difference between an M and H class? Well, the M-class is suitable for all wood materials such as filler, filler and lacquer materials, plaster, cement, concrete, tile glue and paints such as latex and oil paints or quartz-containing materials such as sand and pebbles. The H-class vacuum cleaners are also suitable for vacuuming hazardous substances such as asbestos and dust with certain types of viruses or bacteria. This M and H class is based on the Maximum Accepted Concentration (MAC) in the workplace and the percentage of particles that a filter holds back. An M filter allows a maximum of 0.1% and an HEPA-filter (H14) 0.005%. In short: the higher the class, the better the protection for the people in the room, so for you!

The dust bag

You have industrial vacuum cleaners, just like household vacuum cleaners, with and without a dust bag/longopac. The advantage of working with a dust bag/longopac is that you do not have to clean the drip tray. You will not even be able to escape this from 1 January! From this year on, the dust that is sucked up must immediately end up in a bag or longopac so that you minimize dust displacement when changing.
